We act as the outsourced IT department for businesses that don't have — or don't want to build — a full in-house IT team, and we work alongside the internal IT staff of those who do.

The Greg Brainerd story
In 2002, Greg Brainerd was called into his boss’s office at Pennzoil — and secretly hoped he’d be laid off. Shell had just bought the company, he’d already survived a dot-com layoff two years earlier, and he and his wife, Tracy, were moonlighting fixing systems for small businesses on the side. When he got his walking papers, he thanked his baffled boss. It was the push he’d been waiting for — and they launched Braintek full-time that year.
For the first few years Braintek ran out of the family living room until Tracy insisted it get its own place — a small office off Blueberry Hill near The Woodlands, where Greg made his first full-time hire, Russell Ferry, who is still on the team today. To grow, Greg taught himself the parts of business that don’t come in a network engineering degree, leaning on Toastmasters, BNI, and the Woodlands Chamber to get comfortable with sales and speaking.
Two decades later, Braintek has grown from a two-person shop into one of Houston’s most established managed IT providers — nearly 20 people, hundreds of clients, and over $3.6 million in annual revenue, with a full suite of services from cybersecurity to cloud. Greg built it around fast, no-nonsense response (clients reach a real person in minutes), wrote Protecting Your Business Against Hackers, and has been featured in MSP Success and MSP Cybersecurity Magazine.
